Customs and Excise Tax Group provides advice on excise tax and customs regulations in force in Poland and in the European Union.
As Poland joined the European Union, European excise tax regulations must be harmonized. However, this requirement notwithstanding, Polish regulations are still very vague and are subject to numerous amendments. Significant burden imposed by excise tax and an extensive scope of application of the regulations lead to a situation where ever growing group of entities are being covered by excise tax regulations.
Also customs regulations, even though predominantly adopted at the Community level, undergo changes. Currently, work is underway on the introduction of the institution of an Authorized Economic Operator and on the draft revised customs code. Complexity of regulations and many years' experience which other Member States have had with the application of Community customs regulations requires detailed familiarity with practices used throughout the European Union.
As a result, only familiarity with Polish, local realities in conjunction with EU practice allows one to manage the international goods supply chain in a cost and time effective manner.
