Joe Watt

Chairman of the Management Committee and Managing Partner, CIS

Joe was appointed Chairman of the Management Committee and Managing Partner for the CIS in January 2014. Joe has worked with EY for 25 years since graduating from university. He has worked in several different EY member firms where he served in various management and client service roles. During his career, Joe has been responsible for the technical consultation process, has been the Managing Partner of Assurance in two different emerging market countries for a combined period of six years, and has led a risk management team. Joe has worked extensively in numerous countries on some of the biggest clients in the world. Joe’s experience is based on auditing of clients in the industrial, consumer and retail sectors in Australia, Indonesia and Russia. In addition to practice management experience and regular client engagements, Joe has capital markets experience, and has extensive experience in initiating and managing quality and risk management initiatives.

From 2010 to 2013 Joe was responsible for internal risk management, technical policy development, capital markets, audit quality improvement and management of client-related issues associated with EY’s CIS assurance practice. During this period he was also involved in the operations of EY’s CIS Transaction Advisory Services and of EY’s CIS Fraud, Investigation and Dispute Services. Earlier, from 2006 to 2009, Joe was EY’s CIS Assurance Managing Partner where he was responsible for CIS Assurance practice results and integration with, and alignment into, the Firm’s Global and Area strategies.

Joe is a graduate of University of Ballarat, Australia. He holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and is member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia (ICAA).
