EY Announces the Entrepreneur of the Year 2012 Competition in Russia

MOSCOW, 1 February 2012 - EY, the world’s leading assurance and advisory services company, announced today the beginning of the national stage of the Entrepreneur of the Year 2012 competition in Russia. This is the tenth installment of this competition in Russia held as part of EY’s international Entrepreneur of the Year® Awards Program, which recognizes the outstanding contribution of entrepreneurs to national economies and the world economy.

"Creation and promotion of entrepreneurial spirit and ideas are paramount tasks of modern society. Efficient economy is impossible without a sound entrepreneurial basis,” says Alexander Ivlev, EY Country Managing Partner for Russia and the Entrepreneur of the Year® Program Leader for Russia.

The story of the Entrepreneur of the Year® Program already spans 25 years. Its geographical extent is growing continuously, and today regional and national stages are held in more than 140 cities in 53 countries worldwide. The competitors are business leaders who have successfully realized their business ideas and demonstrated achievements not only in their own countries but in the international arena as well.

Since 1986, over 5,000 brilliant and talented entrepreneurs from all continents have taken part in the competition which has earned a well-deserved reputation of the most prestigious business award in entrepreneurship. The winners of the national competitions vie for the title of the best entrepreneurs of the world. In June 2012, the winner of the Russian stage of the Entrepreneur of the Year competition, Piotr Demchenkov, director general of ALIDI, will represent Russia at the international final of the contest in Monte Carlo.

The past winners include Maksim Nogotkov, Svyaznoy; Sergei Vykhodtsev, Velle; Ruben Vardanyan, Troika Dialog; Andrei Martirosov, Utair; Anatoly Karachtinsky, IBS.

Entrepreneurs from all across Russia who are prepared to share their business success stories with business circles of Russia and the world are invited to enter the 2012 competition. The terms of participation are available at www.eoy.ru. The registration of applications starts on 1 February and runs through 30 March. The national awards ceremony will be held on 29 November 2012 in Moscow. ”
