About the seminar

We are pleased to present a seminar on the developments in financial reporting, highlighting changes in Financial Reporting Standards that affect the current year i.e., financial years beginning
on or after 1 January 2014 and other significant developments in financial reporting standards. We will walk through practical examples as we discuss these changes.

A new revenue standard is expected to be issued in 2014. Adoption of this standard may have significant effect on some companies. In this seminar, we will highlight some of the requirements in the new standard and discuss how companies can prepare for adoption of this standard.

We will discuss the new and revised standards that will be effective in 2014, with specific focus on consolidated financial statements and joint arrangements. The suite of consolidation standards comprising standards on consolidation and joint arrangements introduces a new definition of control and additional guidance to determine whether an investor controls its investee. There is also new guidance on the determination of the classification of joint arrangements.

Other developments in financial reporting standards will also be discussed. These include standards issued but not yet effective and amendments to financial reporting standards that are expected to be issued in 2014.
