Steve Varley speaking at the Global Investment Conference 2013

Steve Varley, Chairman and UK&I Managing Partner, delivered a welcome address at the Global Investment Conference 2013 in London on 9 May 2013.

EY was the main sponsor, alongside HSBC, of the Global Investment Conference 2013, which brought together financial leaders, chief executives and corporate investors from around the world to  discuss how to boost business investment and global economic growth.

With a key note address by David Cameron, Prime Minster, discussions ranged from ‘how to secure sustainable futures’ to ‘funding innovation’ to ‘safety and sufficiency: finance fit for the 21st century’.

Focusing around how the UK can pursue global growth and attract foreign investment, the message that the UK is open for business and still one of Europe’s most competitive investment locations was strongly reinforced.

Watch Steve’s full speech as he shares the preliminary findings from EY's European Attractiveness Survey 2013, our annual report that helps companies develop their foreign investment strategies. The final results will be available on June 6 2013.
