The Capital Equipment Valuations (CE) team operates within Valuations & Business Modelling (V&BM), providing specialist valuation advice regarding tangible fixed assets.  We provide valuation advice for a range of purposes, including mergers, acquisitions and disposals, loan security/collateral, insurance, taxation, corporate restructuring, expert witness and balance sheet purposes.

We frequently work on global valuation projects, and work closely with the wider Europe, Middle East, India and Africa (EMEIA) CE team as well as with our real estate and business valuation V&BM colleagues.

You will join a growing global network of CE specialists, who have a broad range of financial and engineering experience provide a consistent valuation service, across the world.  Many of our team are qualified Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Chartered Machinery Surveyors, or registered American Society of Appraisors (ASA) valuers.

Our valuation advice considers the background and purpose of the engagement, the assets to be valued, and the application of relevant valuation approaches and methodology in accordance with International Valuation Standards.

What will my day be like in Capital Equipment?

Your work would include the assimilation and analysis of client data and preparation of the valuation model, which will incorporate the key valuation inputs and assumptions identified.

You may also be required to attend client meetings and undertake physical inspections of the principal assets together with the CE team.  You would then be required to follow up any meetings/inspections with relevant client personnel in order to obtain any outstanding information required.

Due to the wide range of engagements and industries we work with, each day brings new challenges and opportunities.  You would be encouraged to develop your contacts both in the UK and wider EMEIA CE team, in order to ensure that we continue to utilise the breadth of experience available across the CE network.

We place great emphasis on using your initiative and taking responsibility for the quality of your work, and you would be required to utilise your attention to detail and time management skills, whilst demonstrating common sense and commercial awareness on each engagement.

What training and development will I receive in my first few years?

We may offer to support you in the accreditation process for membership with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.  However, most of your professional technical growth will be derived through experience working on engagements with more experienced team members.

The position provides the opportunity to develop a range of skills and experience early on in your career, and very soon after joining the team, you will be required to attend at client sites, and liaise directly with client staff.  You will be trained and encouraged to increase your responsibilities as soon as you have demonstrated your ability to do so.

What opportunities will Capital Equipment open up?

Development opportunities include leading/managing teams, training less experienced staff, or assuming the role of counsellor to new starters.  Business development opportunities (including overseas secondments) may also be available.

What are my options when I apply?

Opportunities in Capital Equipment are based in our London office.
