EY has been recognised for its ongoing commitment to responsible business practices, retaining the Platinum status in Business In The Community’s (BITC) 11th Corporate Responsibility Index.

The professional services firm was benchmarked against a rigorous assessment of its social and environmental impact and workplace management. The Platinum status was only awarded to those companies who were able to demonstrate that corporate responsibility had been integrated into all aspects of the business and who had shown consistent improvement over a number of years.

EY excelled across a number of areas and was praised for its work with social entrepreneurs and young people. The firm’s achievements include innovative partnerships with the Social Business Trust; the Accelerate Network, a programme of free business events for young business leaders and social entrepreneurs,; and Smart Futures, which was launched last year and designed to unlock the career potential of bright, ambitious students from some of London’s most underprivileged boroughs.

Martin Cook, EY’s UK and Ireland Commercial Partner commented: “To have received external recognition for the quality and impact of our corporate responsibility programmes is a real achievement. Every year we invest time and money into our local communities, developing the Alan Sugar’s of the future and helping young people and social entrepreneurs to grow and develop. The last eighteen months have seen the launch of new initiatives and partnerships, through programmes such as Smart Futures and Accelerate, and I’m confident that we will continue to innovative in the months and years ahead.”

Stephen Howard, Chief Executive, Business In The Community said: “I congratulate EY for achieving Platinum status because it signifies a key step on the journey, a willingness to rise to the challenge and that they are part of a movement of responsible business in which all companies have their unique part to play. We look forward on working with, supporting and challenging EY to build on this achievement as we together drive the transformational change needed to deliver a sustainable economy.”
