‘Targets with teeth’ needed to keep gender diversity at the top of the boardroom agenda, says EY

Liz Bingham, EY’s Managing Partner for Talent in the UK & Ireland responds to comments from the Davies Review steering group on gender diversity:

“Progress on gender diversity continues to be painfully slow, and the announcement by the Davies Review is a reminder that there is still a long way to go before the UK can claim victory. The finish line is barely in sight and we applaud Denise Wilson for raising the flag now rather than in 2015.

“In our experience, diversity needs constant, close attention for any sustainable change to take place. It needs to be on the board’s agenda on a daily basis, rather than once in a blue moon on International Women’s Day.

“Progress takes time, but setting targets with teeth and holding ourselves accountable for those targets is the only way to keep this agenda front of mind.”
