Visa information
You do not generally require a visa if you visit Cape Town or enter South Africa for tourism purposes, short business engagements or if you are in transit. Passport holders from more than 80 countries, including the USA, Canada, Japan and the European Union countries, can visit South Africa without visas.
You will need:
- A passport or travel document, valid for a sufficient period to cover your intended stay
- A valid visa, if required
- Sufficient funds
- A return or onward ticket
- At least two blank pages in your passport
- Yellow fever certificate if your journey starts in, or entails passing through, the yellow fever belt of Africa or South America
