Chris leads the Tax Controversy Risk Management practice at Ernst & Young. Prior to joining he spent over 20 years in HMRC, in the Large Business Services office, and latterly in charge of teams in Special Civil Investigations offices, which handle the most serious cases involving tax avoidance and evasion. Since joining Ernst & Young over nine years ago, he has helped clients, from FTSE 100 to high-net-worth individuals, successfully manage the enquiry process with HMRC.

Tom worked for the Inland Revenue for 16 years including being in a special investigation unit and Officer in Charge of a large City Centre Tax District. He is currently a Senior Managerwith Ernst & Young where his role includes all aspect s of investigation work, International issues including Transfer Pricing and Corporate Tax planning. He has also worked for another large firm where he was head of investigation services and Transfer Pricing for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

In addition to his tax qualifications Tom holds an MBA and is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Management. He lectures regularly for various professional Institutes in Scotland and Northern Ireland and writes tax articles for professional journals. He has also written articles on the New Money Laundering Regulations and appeared on television to discuss the regulations.
