About our Corporate Ratings Index

The Ernst & Young Corporate Ratings Index (EYCRI) is a new quarterly report from our Restructuring practice.

It looks at analyst’s expectations on over 8,000 public corporations around the world, and analyses on average 50,000 corporate earnings forecasts and 15,000 cash flow forecasts published each quarter. The results offer insight into both current confidence and future economic potential.

More information:

The EYCRI provides an indication on whether companies, such as those included in the report, are likely to meet, exceed or miss their target financial forecasts. It looks at three key indices, which collectively provide a robust measure of current confidence and future economic potential:

The earnings index – provides a long-term outlook on economic trends and can be used to indicate the level of company profitability across regions and sectors. The EYCRI measures the net result of analyst revisions to earnings per share (EPS) forecasts and tracks an average of 48,000 EPS revisions issued by analysts every quarter.

The cash flow index – provides a shorter-term outlook on economic trends and can be used to value the strength and sustainability of particular business models across regions and sectors. The cash EYCRI measures the net result of analyst revisions to cash flow per share (CFPS) forecasts and tracks an average of 16,000 CFPS revisions issued by analysts every quarter.

The credit ratings index – provides a forward-looking opinion on credit worthiness across regions and sectors. The credit ratings EYCRI measures the net result of corporate credit rating actions issued by Standard & Poor’s (S&P) and tracks corporate credit rating actions published by S&P for an average of 140 listed companies every quarter.
