Our focus on education and mentoring
As a firm whose business relies on problem-solving and knowledge transfer, our strategic focus on education and mentoring fits reflects who we are and underscores where we can provide value. It also allows us to devote our resources to helping society maintain competitive standards in a global marketplace.
The education issues facing our nation will directly affect the success of businesses in the future. Higher education is a prerequisite for more and more jobs. Yet, only 17.7 percent of African Americans and 12.1 percent of Hispanics in the adult population of the United States have college degrees, compared to 30.6 percent of the white non-Hispanic US adults. At Ernst & Young, one of our strategic priorities is increasing access to higher education, especially for disadvantaged and minority students, by helping to engage them in the learning process and by facilitating their understanding of how to finance education.
