2013 Road to Palm Springs
As a child, Jim Schwartz, the son of a former Pizza Hut executive, never imagined that he would one day deliver the turnaround that saved NPS International, Pizza Hut’s largest franchisee.
In 1995, Jim was a key player in what had been a successful company. However, NPC had reached its growth peak, and the owner had no clear vision or strategy for the future. At the time, Jim was Controller and about to leave the company when the Board asked him to step in and serve as CEO. Jim accepted and immediately began to change the culture to focus on leadership and accountability. He went on to play a vital role in leading NPC through the transition from a single-shareholder business to the successful private equity–owned business that it is today.
Today, NPC has more than 1,200 stores, 28,000 employees and a future that is focused on acquisition and growth.
