You care about the communities in which you live. So do we.

At Ernst & Young, corporate responsibility (CR) is integral to our business strategy and our dedication to increasing transparency and accountability in the global marketplace. We’re firmly anchored in the communities where we live and work, and we recognize that we have a responsibility to help those communities grow and flourish.

Our CR efforts focus on three issues that lay the foundation for a better world and reflect the strengths of our people and the capabilities of our global organization: entrepreneurship, education and environmental sustainability. We call these the 3Es.

As an Ernst & Young professional, you’ll have many opportunities to give back to your community and to use your skills to make a difference. For example:

• Across the Americas, Community Engagement Champions connect our people to meaningful volunteer opportunities with great organizations like the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the U.S. Green Buildings Council and the schools in our communities.
• EY Connect Day provides an annual opportunity to join with colleagues for a day of community service and celebration.
• Our signature volunteer programs — College MAP (Mentoring for Access and Persistence), the Ernst & Young/Cyberchase Volunteer Program, the Corporate Responsibility Fellows Program and the Earthwatch-Ernst & Young Global Ambassadors Expeditions — are open to individuals who are able to make a multi-day commitment and meet certain criteria.
• Within Ernst & Young, we’re working to go green. We’re the first in our industry to name a full-time Director of Environmental Sustainability to focus on our own internal practices. EcoCare, our Americas-wide network of eco-minded employees, organizes environment-focused volunteer activities in our offices and our communities.

Community engagement is part of our EYU career development framework — because the skills you build as a volunteer can also help you grow as a professional. In fact, as you progress in your career, one of the ways you’ll be able to build your leadership capabilities and network with other business leaders is by joining a not-for-profit board.

We’re also committed to providing you and your faculty with the tools and information you need to succeed in the business world through our unique Academic Resource Center (ARC). For example, the ARC recently rolled out a comprehensive curriculum related to International Financial Reporting Standards, so faculty will be able to provide you with the latest thinking around this important global topic.
