Braam van Huyssteen - Tekkie Town
Master entrepreneur category winner of the Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur Awards 2011, Braam van Huyssteen, founded Tekkie Town in June 2001. He and his team team have worked tirelessly to grow their portfolio to 100 outlets. As a tribute to his roots, the 100th Tekkie Town was opened in Mossel Bay in 2008. Today the group has 165 stores. Another positive delivered to society is the fact that Tekkie Town created a retail environment where consumers who previously could not afford brands, can now access and acquire those products at great value.
