Lilian Masebenza, Mhani Gingi Social Entrepreneurial Networks Mhani Gingi literally refers to a caring industrious woman who is always looking for lasting solutions to social problems. Established in 2006 by Lilian Masebenza, Mhani Gingi Social Entrepreneurship Networks (“Mhani Gingi”) is an organization that looks to support and assist social entrepreneurs, predominantly woman in a quest to eradicate and alleviate poverty through providing two core activities: business skills training and social business development finance by applying a network-like model. By maximizing the power of the collective for its members, Mhani Gingi strives to be leader in providing innovative solutions in sustainable and profitable business solutions towards poverty alleviation. Mhani Gingi is structured as a network made up of small scale entrepreneurs who are operating their own businesses (vegetable gardens, bead work, cultural catering, a B&B, tour groups and traditional attire, weaving, DVD production and others). Members of the Mhani Gingi network gain access to skills and finance through the network’s affiliations and benefit from joining the network through its linkage to sponsors and markets. Members are also able to save through the Mhani Gingi Trust which formalizes their financial planning and acts as a vehicle for saving and is an additional service available.
