Social Entrepreneur finalist 2010

Nicole-Marie Iresch and Christophe Labesse, Township Patterns

Township Patterns CC & Township Non-Profit (Section 21 co. registered as Afrique du Sud, Bidonvilles (ASB) were set up by Nicole-Marie Iresch in the beginning of 1997 to build and create areas of employment for women in township communities.  In 2003 she was joined by her partner Christophe Labesse in a full time capacity as the finance director of ASB and playing the role of general manager at Township Patterns.  Both organisations were set up as a result of Nicole-Marie’s personal relationship with a group of women and the first ever sewing cooperative of woman in the townships has since grown into these organisations.  Township Patterns is made up of three underlying entities: The NGO ASB, the Cooperative Network and the Marketing Company known as Township Patterns CC.  This model of integrated but independent entities has been set up ensuring a stronger long-term model as each organisation has clear objective and responsibilities.
