EMEIA leadership and management

Mark OttyMark Otty
Area Managing Partner
Mark was the Area Managing Partner for Northern Europe, Middle East, India and Africa (NEMIA) from July 2006 to June 2008. Mark is a South African and his career has spanned multiple disciplines and locations. Having joined Ernst & Young as an audit trainee, he has held leadership roles and served clients in the fields of Corporate Finance, Tax and Business Advisory in South Africa, Canada and the UK.

Jay Nibbe

Jay Nibbe
Deputy Area Managing Partner / Markets
Previously Jay was Americas Vice Chair – Tax for the Americas Tax practice, and before that the Americas Tax Managing Partner – Area Practices and Client Service. During that time he led the implementation of the Tax practice’s market strategy and focus on priority accounts. Before that, Jay served as the Tax Managing Partner in the Mid-West Sub-Area. He also has extensive global experience, having led the Tax practice at the Ernst & Young member firm in Russia for four years.

Pascal was previously the EMEIA Assurance leader, and prior to this held a number of leadership roles, including Assurance & Advisory Business Services (AABS) leader for the former Continental Western Europe (CWE) Area and the EMEIA Area.

Karen HochreinKaren Hochrein
People
Karen was previously the People leader for Central Europe (CE) AABS and Ernst & Young Germany. She was a member of the Global People Executive Committee from 2003-2005, and has participated in many global People projects, including the development of Global Partner Performance Management, competency models and learning.

Olivier BreillotOlivier Breillot
Quality & Risk Management (Q&RM)
Olivier was most recently the CWE Q&RM leader and a member of the Q&RM Global Executive Committee. He has worked in both AABS and Transaction Advisory Services (TAS) over many years, serving clients in the oil and gas sector, as well as in other industry sectors. He has also worked in the US.

Andrew EmburyAndrew Embury
Advisory
Andy joined the firm in 2008 from IBM, where he was General Manager of Global Business Services for the UK, The Netherlands, the Middle East and South Africa, and before that Managing Partner of PwC Consulting in the UK. Prior to taking up his current role in November 2009 he led the EMEIA Cost Synergies Programme, part of the firm's EMEIA integration effort. He serves as Senior Advisory Partner on two of our large client accounts.

Felice PersicoFelice Persico
Assurance
Felice joined the firm in 1986 and has served in Europe and the US in a range of roles including Assurance COO for EMEIA, Assurance leader for Italy and CWE, and Sector leader for Technology and Communication. He has also served as the Global Client Service Partner for several Office of the Chairman (OCA) and global accounts. In addition to auditing, his experience covers transaction support, IPOs, IFRS conversion and SEC filings.

Tax
Stephan was most recently the CE Tax leader and a member of the Global Tax Executive Committee. His clients are in the Banking and Capital Markets and Asset Management sectors, where he provides transaction and international tax advice.

Joachim SpillJoachim Spill
Transaction Advisory Services (TAS)
Joachim has previously served as the Germany, Switzerland and Austria (GSA) Sub-Area TAS leader, Managing Partner of the German firm and Financial Services Office (FSO) Country Co-ordinator for Germany. He has more than 20 years' experience in transaction support services, working for both corporates and financial investors, with a focus on financial due diligence, business valuations and shareholder value projects for large global and medium-sized companies.

Julie Tiegland

Accounts Business Development (ABD)
Her preceding role was EMEIA Strategic Growth Markets (SGM) Leader, where she launched several successful initiatives, including the "Passion to Win" program with Assurance and the EMEIA EOY (Entrepreneur Of The Year) Forum. Julie has significant experience in initial public offerings (IPOs) and other capital market transactions, as well as broad experience in accounting and auditing, financial reporting and regulatory matters. She is very active in the market serving major clients, including Siemens, Qiagen and Asklepios Kliniken.

Ajen was previously the Assurance leader for Africa and Head of Audit, South Africa before that. Having joined the firm in 1993, he was made Partner in 1999 and Entrepreneurial Services leader in 2001.

Pieter Jongstra

Pieter Jongstra
Belgium and The Netherlands (BeNe)
Pieter joined the firm in 1982, became Partner in 1992 and has worked as an auditor for top national and international clients. In 2003 he became Chairman of the Accountancy Partnership and a member of the Board of Directors of Ernst & Young Netherlands. He has been AABS leader in the former CE Area since 2005 and is Chief Operating Officer of the EMEIA AABS Board.


Karl JohanssonKarl Johansson
Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS)
Karl has broad experience in multinational accounts and the co-ordination of international tax engagements, M&A and due diligence projects in key global markets. In addition to advising senior members of the Russian government on issues affecting foreign investment, he has been a member of the Emerging Europe Business Council and Corporate Governance Task Force of the World Economic Forum, as well as the Foreign Investment Advisory Councils of Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Latvia.

Central and South-East Europe (CSE)
Philip was previously Managing Partner for Africa and has extensive experience working in a multi-cultural and multi-country environment. He has personal experience in many of our service lines, and has worked with both very large and entrepreneurial clients, and is very engaged in developing productive relationships with governments.

Jean Pierre LetratreJean-Pierre Letartre 
Algeria, France and Luxembourg (FraLux)
Jean-Pierre joined Ernst & Young in 1985. In 1986, he created the Lille office and has headed up the French Strategic Growth Market practice since 1994, becoming a board Director of Ernst & Young France in 2000 and of the SEE in 2005. He is a member of the MEDEF (French business association made up of the senior management of all top French firms). He also heads the Entrepreneur of the Year Award Programme in France and is co-founder of the French “Entrepreneur’s Day” Association.

Andy was previously AIBD leader for EMEIA FSO and has held a number of other leadership positions at Ernst & Young. He has also worked at Cap Gemini and IBM Consulting. Andy is directly involved with many of our OCA accounts.

 Georg Graf WalderseeGeorg Graf Waldersee
Germany, Switzerland and Austria (GSA)
Formerly CE Client Service & Accounts (CS&A) leader, Georg joined Ernst & Young as Markets leader in 2002, and took over as CE CS&A leader in 2005. With extensive experience in the automotive and industrial and consumer products sectors, Georg currently serves in a Senior Advisory Partner capacity on several OCA and Global Priority Accounts.

India
Rajiv is a qualified Chartered Accountant with experience in Assurance, Tax and Corporate Finance. He established Ernst & Young India's TAS practice in the late 1990s and, since 2002, Ernst & Young India has been named by Bloomberg as M&A leader in India based on number of transactions. Rajiv is affiliated with a number of prominent business and industry associations, including the World Economic Forum’s New Asian Leaders.

Donato IacovoneDonato Iacovone
Mediterranean
Donato joined the firm in 1984 as auditor in the Milan office, becoming Partner and Corporate Finance leader in 1996, and Partner in charge of the Public Sector in 1997. He led the Italian Business Advisory Services (BAS) practice from 2000 to 2005 before being named BAS leader of the former CWE Area from 2005 to 2008. Donato served as the Mediterranean Accounts & Business Development leader for two years prior to his recent appointment as Sub-Area Managing Partner. His industry experience includes extensive work in both power and utilities and government and public sectors and he is a member of the Italian C.P.A. Board and Associate of the Italian Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Abdulaziz Al-SowailimAbdulaziz Al-Sowailim
Middle East and North Africa (MENA)
For more than 20 years, Abdulaziz has provided assurance, tax and business advisory services to a range of private and public sector organisations in the financial services, energy, petrochemicals, manufacturing, trading and services sectors. He has long-standing relationships within the MENA business community and strong ties with the public and private sector in Saudi Arabia, the Sub-Area's largest market. Abdulaziz is Vice Chairman of the Saudi Accounting Association and a member of the Saudi Organisation of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He joined Ernst & Young’s Riyadh office in 1986 and was appointed Country Managing Partner for Saudi Arabia in 2009.

Torstein is Managing Partner of Ernst & Young Norway and has been with the firm since 1975. As leader of the Norwegian practice Torstein has been very involved in developing and successfully implementing our People strategy.

Steve Varley

Steve Varley
UK & Ireland
Steve has 15 years of consulting experience and his expertise ranges from Aerospace and Defence to Pharmaceutical and Energy.
Prior to this role Steve was the UK&I Markets leader. responsible for executing EY's growth strategy across all service lines, priority sectors and regions of the business. He previously led the London Advisory business, which was formed in 2008. He joined Ernst & Young from Accenture in 2005 as the NEMIA Service Line Leader for BAS. Steve has worked on some of the largest UK&I accounts including the UK Home Office and National Grid.
