Tuesday 7 February 2012 — EY has announced the opening of a new office in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea (PNG).

EY Oceania CEO and Managing Partner, Rob McLeod said the establishment of an EY presence in PNG ensured the organisation was well-positioned to support global and Asia-Pacific clients operating in the region.

“The PNG economy has seen strong growth in recent years and that is driving increasing client demand and opportunity for high-quality professional services,” Mr McLeod said.

“The opening of the EY PNG office forms part of our Asia-Pacific strategy and marks another step in our journey of providing local and global services for our clients.”

EY PNG will be led by Country Managing Partner, Frank Bouraga, and Founding Partner, Madhu Nair, and the office will initially focus on supporting the growing resources and energy sector.

“Both Frank and Madhu bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in assurance and professional services to the leadership of our PNG team,” Mr McLeod said.

“In addition, as a PNG national, Frank has a unique understanding of the local business environment and will be the first indigenous Managing Partner of a Big Four firm in the country,” Mr McLeod said.

The PNG office will be connected with Australia, in particular working closely with the Brisbane office, to leverage EY’s existing strength, scale and experience.

“This structure provides stability and enables us to deliver connected, seamless and high-quality client services right across the region,” Mr McLeod said.

The new EY offices are located at ADF Hause on Musgrave Street in Port Moresby.
