EY announces new Queensland leader
EY today announced the appointment of Paul Laxon as the firm’s next Queensland Managing Partner.
Mr Laxon has over 29 years’ experience in advising public and private sector clients across the infrastructure, asset management and energy/utilities industries. He joined EY in 2002, most recently serving as Tax Leader for the Brisbane office, as well as Tax Leader for power, utilities and infrastructure across Oceania. He has been a member of EY’s Asia-Pacific Advisory Council (Board of Partners) since the EY Asia Pacific area’s inception in July 2010.
Mr Laxon will take on the Queensland practice leadership role following the retirement of current Queensland Managing Partner, Rick Dennis, on 1 July 2015. He will also continue his role as Oceania Energy and Infrastructure Tax Leader and will remain active in servicing clients of the firm.
EY Oceania CEO and Managing Partner, Tony Johnson said Mr Laxon was well placed to lead the Queensland business.
“With the recent Government change in Queensland, this is an exciting time for business in the region. I look forward to watching the continued growth of EY’s Brisbane practice under Paul’s leadership,” Mr Johnson said.
Mr Laxon said he looked forward to leading EY’s Brisbane team as they supported Queensland business and Government clients in building a better working world.
“Seeing our people and our clients succeed and grow is really gratifying and I’m pleased to be leading our Brisbane practice through the next stage of our journey. We live in interesting times, certainly in an economic and political context both at a state and national level, and the contribution from businesses like EY is critical to building community and the type of world we want to live in.” Mr Laxon said.
“I look forward to building on the great work of both Rick and previous Queensland Managing Partner, Jenny Parker, and continuing to expand our Queensland business and give our people even more opportunities to develop their careers.”
