EY bolsters Asia-Pacific cybersecurity services with acquisition of Open Windows in Australia
Hong Kong, 7 August 2017
- The acquired business forms the central platform for new Asia-Pacific EY Identity Management Advisory Services
Ernst & Young Advisory Pte. Ltd has acquired one of the country’s leading identity and access management (IAM) providers, Melbourne-based Open Windows Australia Pty Ltd. The acquisition strengthens the EY member firms' cybersecurity service capability in Asia-Pacific.
The acquired firm will become the central basis for a new regional IAM advisory platform for EY member firms in Asia-Pacific, enhancing their capabilities to assess, design, build and operate services to protect organizations’ critical infrastructure and systems against cyber threats. The acquisition enables EY member firms to offer an integrated suite of cyber advisory services across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, from strategy through to assistance in implementation capability across Asia-Pacific.
Richard Watson, EY Asia-Pacific Leader for Cybersecurity, says:
“The need for organizations to protect infrastructure such as financial systems, power grids, telecommunication lines, transportation, commerce and health care systems from cyber threats has never been more important. Connected infrastructure, growing networks and internet-enabled devices mean our communities are increasingly vulnerable to risk of attack from sophisticated cyber criminals, who often use weak identity management controls to compromise systems. With an end-to-end cyber advisory and assistance in implementation capability, EY member firms are even more well-positioned than ever to help clients protect critical systems.”
Paul Clark, EY Asia-Pacific Advisory Managing Partner, says:
“Open Windows gives us the foundation for creating a hub for our identity management capabilities across APAC and we will be investing in people and assets to build on this regional capability. Our clients will benefit from access to integrated identity management advisory experience, rather than having to engage a multitude of suppliers.
“Maintaining the Open Windows platform as a discrete platform will help drive innovation, service quality and client service in IAM. It complements our offshore capability and we see it is as a key point of differentiation by offering offshore identity work with the implementation advisory.”
The new EY APAC Identity Management Advisory Services will be led by the former Open Windows CEO, Simon Adler, and will provide “Identity-as-a-Service” (IDaaS) in addition to existing EY identity governance capabilities.
Simon Adler, former Open Windows CEO, says:
“This combination puts us on enterprise footing, which opens up significant new opportunities for the team and our clients.”
The acquisition closed on 31 July 2017.
