EY boosts Australian legal team
Thursday, 7 September 2017
EY announced today the appointment of two new partners, Michelle Segaert and Andrew Ball, to Ernst & Young Australia’s expanding legal team.
Working across both Sydney and Melbourne, Michelle will be driving the newly formed Australian financial services law team, providing legal support to local providers as well as both inbound and outbound financial services clients.
Michelle has more than 15 years’ experience in financial services law in Australia and the UK, including senior in-house legal roles at a boutique investment bank and a listed ASX 100 financial institution. Working at top-tier law firms, she has also advised clients on many key areas of financial services law including regulation and regtech, corporate and trustee governance, corporate transactions, licensing regimes and investment fund formation, establishment and management.
Andrew will lead the employment law practice for Australia. Also based in Sydney and previously at a top tier firm, he brings with him 25 years’ experience in all areas of employment and workplace relations law. Andrew will be advising our clients on diverse aspects of employment law, from industrial relations to occupational health and safety.
EY Oceania Law Leader, Kirsty Keating said:
“Andrew’s appointment is another step to ensuring we are providing the full range of services our clients require across Oceania. He will complement our well-established New Zealand employment law offering and our people advisory services around remuneration and reward.”
EY Oceania Financial Services Leader, Graeme McKenzie said:
“Michelle’s appointment is another example of our ongoing commitment to and focus on providing professional services and support to the financial services sector. In an environment increasingly categorised by rapid technological advancements and regulatory change, having a dedicated, multi-disciplinary team in place is critical in assisting financial services clients with the complex challenges they are facing.”
