Wednesday, 1 November 2017
Christian Beck of Australian Technology Innovators has been named 2017 Australian EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™.
As the Australian winner, Christian will travel to Monaco in June next year to compete against national winners from more than 60 countries for the chance to be named 2018 EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year™.
Christian Beck was developing software for legal firms before the search engine concept was an internet byword. His first company, LEAP Legal Software, delivers technical solutions to improve the productivity of law firms and conveyancers. InfoTrack, which is complimentary to LEAP Legal, is a one-stop-search engine for critical legal and other company-related information from sources including ASIC, credit agencies, the electoral roll, and litigation services.
Brought together as Australian Technology Innovators, these thriving technology companies are undertaking rapid global expansion.
The combined business has grown significantly in the last three years, with revenue growing from $156 million in FY15 to $231 million in FY17.
Chair of the independent judging panel Kathy Gramp said there was significant competition among this year’s applicants but Australian Technology Innovators stood out for its innovation and impressive growth.
“Christian has built two enormously successful businesses from nothing, and he shows no signs of stopping. He is a self-made, self-taught serial entrepreneur who has demonstrated the ability to derive extraordinary value through the integration of his offerings in Australian Technology Innovators, which is set for global expansion.”
Christian was named this year’s winner at a ceremony attended by Australia’s leading entrepreneurs, alumni and judges at Crown Palladium in Melbourne last night.
Five impressive Australian entrepreneurs also took home national trophies from the awards ceremony. The national category winners were:
- Emerging Category: Michelle Aznavorian – Misha Collection
- Services Category: Fred Schebesta – finder.com.au
- Industry Category: Toni Galati – Galati Group
- Technology Category: Christian Beck – Australian Technology Innovators
- 2017 Australian Social Entrepreneur: Melissa Abu-Gazaleh – Top Blokes Foundation
