EY today announced the successful entrepreneurs from New South Wales to be in the running to be named 2017 Australian EY Entrepreneur Of The Year.

The finalists from Australia’s Eastern Region will join talented entrepreneurs from across the country nominated for this year’s awards.

Sydney Managing Partner, Ernst & Young Australia, Andrew Price, said this year’s Eastern Region finalists were a diverse mix of entrepreneurs from property investment, financial and legal services, toxin free online shopping and travel services, through to mental health and addiction support for men and boys.

“Our entrepreneurs are taking advantage of digital disruption, challenging orthodox methods and delivering innovation with customers firmly front of mind.  They inspire others by creating new markets, new products and new jobs both here and overseas.”

“Australia can be proud of our reputation as a melting pot of entrepreneurs and a growing global hub for innovation,” said Mr Price.

“Bringing these entrepreneurs together is also about challenging their own thinking, helping them learn from each other and to build relationships and networks. This creates an even stronger entrepreneurial ecosystem in Australia.”

Mr Price said the Entrepreneur Of The Year awards were a highlight of the EY calendar providing its alumni and the broader community an opportunity to celebrate our entrepreneurial talent.

“We’ve been celebrating, advising, guiding, recognizing and connecting the best high-growth entrepreneurs for more than 30 years, not only through the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Program but through our Global Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

“We wish all our finalists success and look forward to a fantastic year ahead for Australia’s entrepreneurs,” Mr Price added.

Mark Couter, Acting Executive General Manager for Corporate Financial Services said, “The talent and tenacity shown by the finalists in developing their businesses augers well for the future of the region.

“We support Australia’s top entrepreneurs through our sponsorship of these awards but also provide resources for business owners at all stages. For instance our 21 Day Challenge, which steps through a practical program to develop their enterprises through design thinking principles.”

The finalists will go on to compete at a national level in Melbourne in November. The overall Australian winner will then continue onto the global program, travelling to Monte Carlo in June 2018 to compete for title of EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year™. They will follow in the footsteps of 2015 Australian EY Entrepreneur Of The Year winner, Manny Stul, Moose Enterprises, who was the first-ever Australian to be crowned World Entrepreneur Of The Year in 2016.

The finalists will be assessed by a panel of independent judges, including previous Entrepreneur Of The Year award winners and other successful Australian business leaders, across six core criteria: entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, personal integrity and influence, financial performance, strategic direction, and national and global impact.
