EY sponsors entrepreneurs in Sydney’s CBD
Monday 2nd March 2015 - EY today announced a new multi-year sponsorship of Tank Stream Labs (TSL) to support the organisation to promote and up skill its entrepreneur community.
TSL is a co-working and entrepreneur community located in Sydney’s CBD, operating on a membership basis. The organisation provides a collaborative space for start-ups and entrepreneurs to share otherwise unaffordable office space in Sydney.
EY Technology, Media & Entertainment and Telecommunications Leader David McGregor said EY’s sponsorship of TSL was about supporting an innovative start-up to continue to break new ground within a highly competitive business environment.
Mr McGregor said as part of the sponsorship, EY will offer a program of professional advice and support to TSL members.
“Our relationship with TSL is about developing new connections – to financiers, to customers, potential partners or acquirers. It’s building bridges between innovation-focused start-ups and larger corporates hungry for growth opportunities and new technologies,” Mr McGregor said.
“TSL is a living example of innovation at work. They have set up a dynamic space for start-ups across a range of industries to come together and co-share their business environment and costs. The obvious benefits are access to prime real estate in the heart of Sydney and sharing ideas with like-minded business professionals.
“In our experience the entrepreneurs that are most successful are the ones that take calculated risks to address a problem with a unique solution,” Mr McGregor said.
“There is enormous global market potential for Australian innovators and we’ve seen a number of successful examples of this. But we think there is ample potential for much, much more and the market remains largely untapped.
“EY has a proud history of supporting entrepreneurs, especially through our global Entrepreneur Of The Year program, which has been running for 15 years in Australia. This is another example of EY supporting start-ups to grow and prosper,” Mr McGregor said.
General Manager of TSL Balder Tol said: “We are very excited to be working with EY to support the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Sydney. "Startups have graduated from the garage or spare bedroom and are increasingly seeking a professional environment with all of the necessary support services nearby.
“At TSL we cater to everyone from the one-man-band to the country's leading technology companies such as Airtasker and through this collaboration they will all benefit from real entrepreneurial support and advice.
“We will setup an in-house EY help centre where entrepreneurs can go for premium advice and support in IPO, capital raising, R&D Tax, M&A and risk management. All key parts of building a startup in Australia,” Mr Tol said.
