EY to become one of New Zealand’s largest health advisors
Thursday 2nd July 2015 - EY Oceania has moved to acquire the business and assets of leading New Zealand health consulting company, Health Partners Consulting Group Ltd (Health Partners), making EY one of New Zealand’s largest health care advisors.
Health Partners’ Managing Partner Stephen McKernan – New Zealand’s Director-General of Health from 2006 to 2010 – will join EY Oceania’s Health Advisory team as a partner, while partners Chris Mules and Rana Wong will join EY as directors. Health Partners’ employees and clinical associates will also join EY.
EY Oceania’s Advisory Managing Partner Bill Farrell says the acquisition will accelerate expansion of EY’s health consulting capabilities across Australia and New Zealand.
“Our Oceania consulting business has grown 32% this year, and acquiring Health Partners will help us build on this impressive growth and on our significant health sector expertise.
“We can now provide a full suite of health consulting services in both Australia and New Zealand, including policy and strategic advice. The addition of Stephen, Chris and Rana and their team to our large, broad-based risk and performance consulting practice means we can be a one-stop-shop for public and private health organisations.”
Stephen McKernan says his team is excited to be joining EY and is looking forward to the benefits this will bring to staff and clients in New Zealand and Australia.
“As a boutique health advisory firm, Health Partners has enjoyed a fantastic four-and-a-half years since inception. We have grown rapidly, and attracted a high calibre team and clinical associates who have earned a strong reputation for delivering high quality health advisory services.
“The opportunity to join the EY Oceania Advisory practice is significant for us. The size, capability and expertise within EY will broaden our current offering, including a greater emphasis on supporting change and service transformation, and the development and delivery of further innovation in both the business and the service domains.
“I would like to particularly acknowledge the great team we have at Health Partners who are looking forward to working within EY New Zealand, and the global firm,” Stephen says.
