EY today announced the 13 successful entrepreneurs from South Australia in the running to be 2017 Australian EY Entrepreneur Of The Year.

The finalists from Australia’s Central Region will join talented entrepreneurs from across the country nominated for this year’s awards.

“At a time when many Australian companies are seeking to be pioneering and innovative, it’s businesses with a true entrepreneurial spark that set themselves apart from the competition,” remarked Adelaide Managing Partner, Ernst & Young Australia, Don Manifold, “This year’s EY Entrepreneur Of The Year finalists are a simply outstanding group of South Australian business leaders and entrepreneurs.”

“They demonstrate the drive and determination it takes to disrupt and transform their respective industries. It takes willpower, imagination, and a certain amount of courage to look beyond the status quo and create next-generation offerings that will push a business into the future.”

“South Australia continues to be a subdued market where the companies able to deliver innovative business solutions are destined to be the business leaders of tomorrow. Through the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year program, we are focused on recognising them at the outset and helping them make the leap to the next level of their journey.”

Mr Manifold noted that the finalists are upholding South Australia’s long history of producing outstanding entrepreneurs.

“Innovation doesn’t occur in a vacuum. The fast-growing entrepreneurial community in South Australia is producing a diverse array of emerging leaders and this year’s finalists reflect that diversity. From childcare and early learning to environmental services and jewelry the finalists prove that any business, from any sector, has the power to revolutionise its approach.”

“Each year, the Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards provide an opportunity to celebrate South Australia’s entrepreneurial spirit. EY has been identifying and guiding the most talented high-growth entrepreneurs for over 30 years and each finalist has demonstrated a remarkable calibre of ideas, business performance and potential for growth. This is a fantastic achievement and I congratulate them all.”

“Judging by the quality of the South Australian finalists, we’re looking forward to intense competition at the 2017 Australian EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards.”

Todd Roberts, General Manager, Institutional and Corporate Banking South Australia, Commonwealth Bank, said the nominees were illustrative of broader business confidence.

“The regional finalists are to be applauded for the way they have taken their businesses to the next level. Their investment in business reflects a broader trend and confidence for enterprises across South Australia and the Northern Territory.

“It’s great to see the calibre of these business leaders coming through Central Region. The value they bring to the broader community in fresh ideas, energy and employment cannot be understated.

“Innovative thinking is critical for business success so we’re proud to be principal sponsor of a program recognising Australia’s top business innovators,” Mr Roberts said.

The finalists will go on to compete at a national level in Melbourne in November. The overall Australian winner will then continue onto the global program, travelling to Monte Carlo in June 2018 to compete for title of EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year™. They will follow in the footsteps of 2015 Australian EY Entrepreneur Of The Year winner, Manny Stul, Moose Enterprises, who was the first-ever Australian to be crowned World Entrepreneur Of The Year in 2016.

The finalists will be assessed by a panel of independent judges, including previous Entrepreneur Of The Year award winners and other successful Australian business leaders, across six core criteria: entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, personal integrity and influence, financial performance, strategic direction, and national and global impact.
