(Toronto, 3 March 2014) Do you know a gravity-defying entrepreneur? Nominate them for the 2014 EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards program — launching today!

“Canada’s best entrepreneurs thrive when the economy is up and down,” says Colleen McMorrow, EY partner and National Entrepreneur Of The Year program director. “They defy the odds, defy the impossible and defy everyone who told them they couldn’t achieve results.”

Even the sky is not the limit for these business leaders. Our research shows that Canadian entrepreneurs have less fear of failure and a greater focus on innovation than their global counterparts.

Yet, despite their accomplishments, Canada ranks in the bottom five of the G20 when it comes to entrepreneurs seeing self-made worth as something to celebrate, according to the EY G20 Entrepreneurship Barometer 2013.

“Canadian entrepreneurs deserve all the credit we can give them. They continue to elevate the Canadian business landscape by pushing themselves, and those around them, to greater heights,” says McMorrow. “Help us recognize their outstanding achievements and nominate an entrepreneur in your community for our Entrepreneur Of The Year program today.”

Nominees must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be an owner, CEO or CEO-equivalent of a private or public company that is at least three years old
  • Have some ownership of the company
  • Be primarily responsible for the company’s recent performance
  • Be an active member of top management

If this sounds like someone you know, send us your nomination!

Award winners are chosen based on their vision, entrepreneurial spirit, leadership, financial success and social responsibility. This year’s national program sponsors are the National Post, La Presse, RDI and Merrill Datasite. For more information, FAQs and key dates — and to submit nominations online — visit
