EY named one of the Best Workplaces in Canada again in 2017
New EY offices build on culture, flexibility and inclusiveness
(Toronto, 28 April 2017) EY was named one of the Best Workplaces in Canada again in 2017 by Great Place to Work® Institute Canada, highlighting the firm’s strong culture of teaming, flexibility, people leadership, learning opportunities and growth.

It’s one indicator that EY is living out its purpose of building a better working world,” says Stephen Shea, EY’s Canadian Managing Partner, Talent. “We strive to create an exceptional experience for everyone at EY, from coast to coast. But it’s really our people who earned this award – their effort and dedication to living EY’s values fosters our outstanding work culture year over year.”
The firm is about to kick things up a notch, too. In May, EY’s people in Toronto will be the next to move to a completely reimagined workplace. The new EY Tower in Toronto is the fifth – and largest – move of its kind for EY in Canada, and a testament to the firm’s investment in continually re-evaluating how its people work best.
“The new space is not your traditional office,” explains Shea. “The design is flexible and fluid to enhance how people work, not where they sit. But more importantly, it’s an environment that has proven to bring our purpose to life, and boost our culture.”

EY’s new office design, dubbed EY@Work, is an embodiment of EY’s purpose of building a better working world. It enables the firm’s people to deliver exceptional client service through improved collaboration, flexibility and advanced technology options. In addition, the work space is completely fluid. Someone could sit in a virtual collaboration room working with colleagues in other locations across the country – or the world – and then move to a private (just in time) room to take a confidential call. EY’s people are empowered to work in a way that works best for them.
To date, EY@Work has been implemented in 84 EY offices globally and more are coming soon. In Canada, Halifax and St. John’s moved to EY@Work in 2014, Edmonton moved in January 2016 and Calgary opened its doors in April 2016. Montreal will make the transition in 2018.
“Just as we’re getting ready to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary, we’re looking back at all the amazing things we’ve accomplished working closely together with Canadians and the businesses that help fuel this country,” adds Shea. “But we’re also looking ahead optimistically, with our sights set on an even more diverse, connected and purpose-led workforce than ever before.”
