Cristian Covaciu has led IPEC, one of the leaders in European stoneware production, for 27 years. Originally a small family business, today IPEC has annual revenue of €22m, 800 employees and 250 industrial robots.
IPEC started out producing ornamental and decorative products in small quantities for the domestic market. In 1996 the company began producing items for IKEA, leading to mass production with modern machinery and trading on foreign markets.
IPEC uses some of the most advanced production technologies in its field, with unique technical developments like the isostatic pressing of a cup with its handle. IPEC develops more than 200 new products and 40 million individual pieces every year.
