Ivan Epstein began his career in accounting, leaving to pursue an entrepreneurial calling when he cofounded Softline in 1988. He oversaw its growth into one of the largest and most successful software and services companies in the Southern Hemisphere. Ivan retired from Sage’s executive team in October 2016 but retains close non-executive ties to the company. He was named South Africa’s Best Entrepreneur by EY in 1999/2000.
