Julie Valeant is a Partner in the Tax Services practice of Ernst & Young LLP. She has over 14 years of professional services experience within the Asset Management Industry.

Julie focuses on tax consulting and compliance for hedge funds, fund of funds and related management companies.

Julie has worked on a wide range of tax issues affecting funds, including structuring, year-end tax planning, partnership allocation and federal, state and international tax reporting requirements. She has led multiple engagement teams overseeing multi-billion dollar investment complexes consisting of hedge funds, funds of funds and their related management company entities.

Caroline is a Senior Manager in the Advisory Services practice of Ernst & Young LLP based in New York. She has over 8 years of experience in the financial services industry serving alternative investment funds (private equity and real estate funds in particular), their asset managers, and their sponsors. She joined the US firm in May 2014, after 3 years in the offices of the EY firm in Luxembourg, and 3 years in a major Luxemburg law firm.

Jaime Kahan is a principal at Ernst & Young LLP, where she leads its Wealth and Asset Management Information Technology Risk and Control practice. She has been with Ernst & Young LLP for more than 15 years, advising major clients in the following sectors: asset management, private equity, hedge fund, investment manager, banking and capital markets, and broker–dealer.

Jaime is a member of the Information System Audits and Control Association, a Certified Information System Auditor, a Certified Information Security Manager, and she is also certified in Risk and Information System Controls (CRISC). Jaime leads EY training classes related to cybersecurity, information technology general controls, audit methodology, and service organization controls reporting. In addition, she frequently speaks about cybersecurity at industry conferences and has published several pieces of thought leadership.

Jaime graduated with honors from Binghamton University with a degree in Management Information Systems and Marketing. She earned an MBA in Finance from New York University.

Sabina Zaman is a partner in the Financial Accounting and Advisory Services practice (“FAAS”) of Ernst & Young LLP based in New York. She leads the Wealth and Asset Management sector. Sabina has over 20 years of consulting experience serving multinational clients in the asset management, banking and insurance sectors.

She has diverse experience as an auditor, subject matter specialist (IFRS/US GAAP/SEC), capital markets deal specialist (IPOs, carve-outs, private placements), and management consultant, which enables her to bridge technical accounting and capital markets deals perspectives with operational matters.

Sabina earned her Master’s degree in Business Administration from University of Manchester, U.K., M.A. in Accounting from University of Illinois, M.A. in Economics from University of Carleton, Canada and B.A. in Economics from University of Ottawa, Canada. Sabina is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is a CPA in New York, New Jersey and Illinois.


EY - Michael Barkman

Michael Barkman is an asset management audit partner in the Financial Services Office of Ernst & Young LLP serving hedge funds, private equity funds, mutual funds and BDCs.

Prior to returning to the audit practice, he served in the firm’s Professional Practice group, focusing on asset management. This included consultations with audit teams, client interactions and frequent contact with the SEC, FASB and AICPA. He has worked with large and small clients trading a wide variety of products. His involvement also includes management companies and an asset manager IPO. Michael is currently the EY representative on the AICPA Investment Company Expert Panel.
