EY announces sponsorship and support of the British and Irish Lions Tour 2017
London, 5 September 2016
- A relationship to bring digital and analytics to The Lions and rugby fans
EY is extremely proud to announce its sponsorship and support of The British & Irish Lions 2017 tour of New Zealand. EY will bring its deep experience in digital and analytics to The Lions tour to help bring this unique sporting event to life for rugby fans around the world.
Coming together only once every four years, the British & Irish Lions are formed of the very best Rugby Union players from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales – and this year they will be taking on the world champions, the legendary All Blacks, in The Lions’ first tour of New Zealand in 12 years.
The tour promises to be one of the highlights of the rugby world ahead of the 2019 Rugby World Cup with some of the top players in the northern hemisphere taking on the best team in the world. Supporter interest is expected to be intense – and EY will be working with The Lions and other sponsors to increase this enthusiasm and engagement and to promote the values that The Lions represent.
The Lions are about more than just rugby. They transcend national rivalries to showcase the very best that rugby has to offer – expertise, dedication, teamwork, and the belief that by working together it is possible to create something stronger and more impactful than by going it alone.
Norman Lonergan, EY Global Vice Chair – Advisory, says:
“We’re extremely excited to be working with The Lions to help enable sports fans and commercial partners to further engage with the 2017 Tour to New Zealand. As a business, we identify very closely with the values of rugby and it’s fantastic to be able to build on our successful support of the Rugby World Cup 2015 with such an iconic and unique challenge in the modern sporting era. The Lions in New Zealand is something special and will be a tremendous test of what a high-performing team can achieve in a high-pressure environment. The Lions embodies what EY brings to its clients – a range of diverse experience and character that, together with the right strategy and analysis, can build a better working world through the highest-performing teams.”
Charlie McEwen, British & Irish Lions Chief Operating Officer, says:
“We are delighted to welcome EY to The Lions family. There is a very strong synergy between our two organizations that both thrive to be best of best in our respective industries. We are looking forward to an exciting and productive partnership which can only enhance The Lions experience for all involved.”
