Bill Banks appointed EY's Global Infrastructure Leader

London, 5 October 2012 – EY has appointed Bill Banks as its new Global Infrastructure Leader. The appointment reflects the increased need by governments globally to invest in infrastructure to drive economic growth — particularly in emerging markets — and the expected need for higher quality services as more countries around the world urbanize and require upgrades to existing infrastructure. Bill will also fulfill the role of Global Transaction Advisory Services (TAS) Leader for the Government & Public Sector.

Currently, Bill is EY's Leader of Infrastructure Advisory Group in the Asia Pacific region. He has extensive experience in government and infrastructure and has relationships at senior government levels and with key international donor organizations. Bill has provided commercial and financial advisory services to both governments and private sector clients for major infrastructure projects in Australia, Asia Pacific and Europe.

Bill comments, “This appointment reflects the major investment by EY to provide global leadership and coordination of our infrastructure advisory services to our government and public sector clients. We are already seeing significant rising demand around the world for such services, particularly in the rapid growth markets of Asia Pacific, Middle East and South America. Market commentators predict that this will continue in the years to come with an estimated US$40-50 trillion of infrastructure spending likely to be needed by 2030. The combination of my TAS responsibilities with related infrastructure expertise will enable EY to provide a fully integrated suite of services that are effective and efficient for our clients across the infrastructure transaction lifecycle.”

Uschi Schreiber, EY's Global Government & Public Sector Leader says, “Bill's appointment signals our commitment to winning in this significant and global environment. Governments are the initiators of many new infrastructure projects in almost all emerging and some mature nations, including new transportation networks and power, water and housing infrastructure. EY needs to provide its clients with global experience that is directly applicable from one of these projects to another. Bill's passion for the sector and his commitment in bringing the best we offer from across our highly globally integrated network will help us deliver in this environment.”

Bill is located in Sydney, Australia.
