From family grocer to Norway's retail giant

Throughout 40 years in business, Odd Reitan developed his company, Reitangruppen, with a distinct vision. Its eight value principles are carved in stone at company offices throughout Scandinavia.

His family's first store opened in 1948. Today, Reitangruppen includes Norway's largest grocery chain and fifth largest privately owned real estate company, Europe's second largest convenience store chain, and a Nordic fuel and energy company. Reitan says the award is "great recognition for our 30,000 employees, the entire retail industry in Norway and our many years of commitment to value-based management."
