Ernst & Young Foundation

The primary mission of the Foundation is to stimulate and support excellence in education, with particular focus on higher education and preparation for professional service careers in business. The Foundation may at times provide certain philanthropic services related to disaster relief and other charitable causes.

The following are some of the E&Y Foundation's many programs and activities:

  • Matching gifts serve as the Foundation’s primary means of supporting higher education. The Foundation matches contributions made by our people to accredited colleges, universities, or eligible funds. Tax research programs seek to promote a tax system that is fair and equitable for the public and business alike.

  • Strategic Planning Partnership, was a program of in-kind facilitation services that provided 33 business schools and accounting programs with experienced advisors, a trademarked methodology, and the tools to develop mission-based, strategic plans. A compilation of the processes and plans of several of the schools is available in a casebook, "The Challenge of Change in Business Education." Please contact the Foundation for a copy.

  • Strategic planning for the American Accounting Association’s Executive Committee has been provided by the Foundation since 1994.

  • Tax programs that draw attention to leading tax professionals and issues, include the annual Ray M. Sommerfield Outstanding Tax Educator Award and a training session for educators covering tax issues relating to partnerships and other topics of current interest.

  • Other programs supported by the E&Y Foundation include the Accounting Education Change Commission, American Accounting Association's award for Innovation in Accounting Education, AACSB, the International Association for Management Education, National Black MBA Association, A Better Chance, National Association of Black Accountants, Hispanic Business College Fund, United Negro College Fund, Consortium for Graduate Study in Management, and the National Hispanic Scholarship Fund.

  • Ernst & Young Professorships currently support 32 accounting professorships, allowing more than 30 schools to attract and retain the highest-quality faculty.
