Internet Privacy Policy

Protecting the privacy and confidentiality of our users' information is a core value of Ernst & Young's online environment. This policy statement sets forth our privacy policy for the Canadian Web site, and describes the practices we follow to respect the privacy of all visitors to this site.

At Ernst & Young, we have focused on implementing fair information practices that are designed to protect visitors' privacy. We believe that everyone benefits from the free flow of information when that information is gathered and used responsibly.

Collection, Use, Disclosure, Choice. Ernst & Young does not collect personal information about visitors to the Canadian Web site, except to a limited extent through the use of cookies (described below). Visitors may, however, register for one or more of the following purposes:

  • Apply to work at Ernst & Young
  • Provide information via online polls, forms (e.g., RSVPs) and benchmarking surveys
  • View a Thought Centre Webcast
  • Express an interest in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year program.
  • Job Search Area. Applications and resumés submitted via the Canadian Web site will be entered into an Ernst & Young proprietary database. Ernst & Young does not sell, distribute or disclose personally identifiable information collected in this database to any third parties, except as required by court order or any other legal or regulatory requirement. Information submitted may be shared with other Ernst & Young Global Limited member firms for the same purpose. Entries deemed inactive for 90 days are purged from the database.

    To update any application or resumé you have submitted, please forward your new information via the job search section. Owing to volume, Ernst & Young cannot personally respond to individual requests for applicant status.

  • Thought Center Webcast Section. Registration on the public Web site of Ernst & Young in the United States (the "U.S. Web site") is required to view an Ernst & Young Thought Center Webcast (live or archived). Please refer to the U.S. Privacy Statement found on the U.S. Web site for more details concerning the collection and use of such information.

    Cookies. The Ernst & Young ey.com Web site and/or any of its governed sections may use cookies. A "cookie" is technology that allows our site to store tokens of information ("identifiers") in your browser while you are on our site. Cookies are not used to determine the personal identity of visitors to the Canadian Web site.

    If you do not want to receive a cookie from the Canadian Web site, you have the option of setting your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie, so that you may determine whether to accept it. However, please be aware that if you turn off cookies in your browser, you will not be able to fully experience certain features of the Canadian Web site.

    Data Security/Integrity. Ernst & Young has technological and operational security functions in place to protect personally identifiable information from loss, misuse, alteration or destruction.     Accountability. Ernst & Young complies with applicable privacy legislation, including Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.

    Changes to This Policy. Ernst & Young may change this policy statement as needed. If changes to the statement are made, please note that it may take up to 30 business days before new privacy practices are implemented. Check this page periodically if you would like to monitor changes.
