How do private equity investors
create value?

The annual rate of growth in enterprise value of the largest private equity-backed businesses in 2006 significantly outperformed equivalent public companies in the same country and industry sector during that time, finds a study from Ernst & Young Global. The analysis of the top 100 exits each in the US and Western Europe shows that the bulk of that growth comes from organic revenue growth and acquisitions.
