Lauren Nelson, Area Director of Finance, joined the firm in August 2002. Prior to joining Ernst & Young, Lauren had extensive experience as a senior manager on the audit side with Andersen and for her first two years with Ernst & Young. As of May 1, 2004, Lauren became the CFO of the Cayman Islands office and as of September 1, 2004, was appointed the Bahamas, Bermuda, Cayman (BBC) Area Director of Finance.
Lauren’s tenure at Andersen covered one year in Bermuda, 15 months in Curacao, three years with the South African practice and seven years in the Cayman Islands. During Lauren’s last three years at Andersen, she shared responsibility for the operations of the Cayman office.
Lauren has worked with clients within the financial markets sector, including investment funds, insurance captives, banks, and other entities. As an active member of the Hedge Fund Advisory Team, Lauren represented the firm at several conferences as well as writing a number of articles for publications. Lauren is a member of the Committee of Hearts of the Cayman chapter of Hedge Funds Care.
Lauren is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants as well as the Cayman Islands Society of Professional Accountants (CISPA). She received a Bachelor of Accounting degree from the University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.
William Forsythe joined the firm in November 2005 as Financial Controller. Prior to this he was Corporate Secretary and Controller of the Cayman Islands Society of Professional Accountants from November 2004, and prior to that was employed by Caribbean Utilities Company Ltd (“CUC”), the Cayman Islands electrical utility, as CFO and CIO. During his 19 years with CUC the company became one of the leading electrical utilities in the Caribbean and was listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange in 1991.
Prior to this he was employed by a major accounting firm in the Cayman Islands and Northern Ireland.
William has been a resident of the Cayman Islands since 1981, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, and is a member of the Cayman Islands Society of Professional Accountants. He received a Batchelor of Commerce degree from Leeds University, England.
Baron E. Jacob is a senior manager in our AABS Practice and he has more than ten years of accounting experience, including six years in the Cayman Islands. Baron returned to the Cayman firm after working in Ernst & Young’s Global Business Risk Services Practice in New York. While in New York, Baron focused exclusively on SEC registered financial services clients that required him to be an integral member of the firm's leadership team focused on all aspects of client control documentation and validation of controls with management.
Baron also spent two years in the San Francisco office of Ernst & Young where he provided audit and tax solutions to onshore investment clients including hedge funds and venture capital companies. Baron currently is responsible for audits of a wide variety of offshore financial services clients including investment funds, banks and trusts. Baron is licensed as a CPA in Illinois and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Cayman Islands Society of Professional Accountants (CISPA). He graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Business, specializing in Accounting and a Bachelor of Arts, specializing in Marketing.
Rennie Khan, senior manager, has eleven years of accounting experience, including seven years in the Cayman Islands. Prior to joining the firm, he served with another major accounting firm in Trinidad and Tobago. Currently he is responsible for the audits of investment funds, insurance captives, banks and trusts.
Rennie is a fellow of The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, as well as a member of the Cayman Islands Society of Professional Accountants (CISPA). He received his professional qualification from the Students Accountancy Centre in Trinidad and Tobago.
Brent Kukkee, senior manager, has been with the firm for more than eleven years, the past 4 years in the Cayman Islands office. Brent services a wide variety of offshore financial services clients, including offshore funds, international and private banks, trust companies, and special purpose vehicles.
Brent graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in accounting from Lakehead University. He is a Canadian Chartered Accountant and a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. Brent is also a member of the Cayman Islands of Society of Professional Accountants (CISPA).
