Our core tax advisory business offerings in International Tax Services, State and Local Taxes and Federal Tax Services make up the business offering for our Financial Services Tax practice. Our Financial Services Tax practice services clients in the areas of Asset Management, Banking Capital Markets and Insurance.

As a member of Ernst & Young’s Financial Services Tax practice, you will have the combination of deep tax knowledge and a sophisticated understanding of business drivers to serve your clients to the best of your ability.

We currently have a career opportunity for a Senior in our Financial Services Asset Management Tax practice which assists clients in the areas of Investment and Hedge Funds, Mutual Funds and Private Equity. Using cutting-edge technology and working with team-oriented colleagues, the successful candidate will be responsible for securing and analyzing client tax data used in the preparation and/or review of tax compliance products in addition to providing clients with tax guidance and planning. Our people work on key client issues in domestic federal taxation, with a focus on implementing tax strategies that align with the client's business objectives

Responsibilities

  • Interface with clients and team members to secure tax data. Collect/convert tax compliance data into an electronic format. Formulate a plan to gather/communicate information to the client and complete accurate compliance products.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate, well organized workpapers.
  • Performs quality review of product.
  • Research complex tax theory and positions, and apply them to specific client needs.
  • Exercise a high degree of independent judgment and discretion in providing tax services.
  • Identifies and documents tax technical and engagement issues and risks.
  • Demonstrates solid working knowledge of Tax tools and technology.
  • Discusses engagement with internal and external sources to gain thorough knowledge of the client.
  • Prepares budgets, workplans and other planning documents.
  • Develops an understanding of engagement economics to become aware of how decisions impact profitability.
  • Stays abreast of current business and economic development relevant to the clients’ business.

To qualify, candidates must have:

  • a bachelor's degree, preferably with an emphasis in accounting, finance, or a related field (an advanced degree in tax or law is highly desirable)
  • CPA certification required
  • a minimum of 3 years of relevant partnership and/or corporate tax experience or equivalent experience in business or industry
  • excellent managerial, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills
