Nominations for Indonesia’s best entrepreneur are now open

The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year awards program was created in the United States by Ernst & Young in 1986. The awards program is one of the world’s most prestigious business accolades for entrepreneurs. Recognized globally, the awards honor entrepreneurs whose ingenuity and perseverance have created and sustained successful, growing business ventures. Today, the awards program has expanded to more than 135 cities in over 50 countries around the globe.

The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards program was launched in Indonesia in 2001. Now in its eight years, the awards program has evolved into a pre-eminent business award in the local business scene. It aims to celebrate entrepreneurial success and recognize the benefits that entrepreneurs and their entrepreneurial spirit bring to the Indonesian economy in terms of driving national growth and enhancing economic competitiveness in the global marketplace.

In collaboration with the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship this year Ernst & Young is also seeking nominations for Social Entrepreneur Of The Year 2008.

The Indonesia 2008 Entrepreneur of the Year Award recipient will represent Indonesia at the World Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in Monte Carlo in 2009, while the Indonesia Social Entrepreneur Of The Year 2008 will be invited to the Social Entrepreneurs Summit in Zurich by the Schwab Foundation.

Jean-Paul Clozel named Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur Of The Year 2008

Switzerland's Dr. Jean-Paul Clozel was named as the Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur Of The Year 2008 at the climax of a glittering ceremony in Monte Carlo on 31 May. Clozel, founder of Actelion Pharmaceuticals Ltd., was described as "epitomizing the entrepreneurial spirit" by Ernst & Young Chairman and CEO Jim Turley.

Real Estate Tycoon, Ciputra named Indonesian Entrepreneur of The Year 2007

Ciputra of Ciputra Group was named Ernst & Young’s Indonesia Entrepreneur of the Year 2007 by an independent panel of judges, chaired by DR Miranda Goeltom, Senior Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia on November 28. Ciputra was chosen from among the 14 top entrepreneurs in Indonesia selected as finalists and will represent Indonesia at the World Entrepreneur Of The Year 2008 in Monte Carlo.
