Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year

Canada's Guy Laliberté was named as the 2007 Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur Of The Year at the climax of a glittering ceremony in Monte Carlo on 2 June.

Guy Laliberté, Founder and CEO of Cirque du Soleil, was praised for the "commitment to his artistic vision and the passion he has for his work" by the chairman of the independent judging panel. Watch the moment when Guy won the award.

Ernst & Young presents its annual Entrepreneur Of The Year® (EOY) award to the most successful and innovative entrepreneurial business leaders around the globe in more than 135 cities in 50 countries worldwide. All winners become lifetime members of The Entrepreneur Of The Year Hall of Fame, which is part of the Entrepreneur Of The Year Academy.

Each year the national country winners from around the world are invited to the World Entrepreneur Of The Year Award celebration. The next World Entrepreneur Of The Year event will take place 29 May–1 June 2008 in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

“In the spotlight”: Social Entrepreneurship

The Social Entrepreneur Of The Year award, presented in collaboration with the Schwab Foundation and the World Economic Forum (WEF), celebrates innovative ideas and practices that use market forces to create economic and social change. Social Entrepreneur Of The Year award ceremonies currently take place in the Czech Republic, Turkey, South Africa and Indonesia.

New countries joining EOY

The Entrepreneur Of The Year program continues to expand around the world with five new countries hosting the event for the first time: Chile, Kazakhstan, Korea, Middle East and Mozambique. Discover more about these inaugural initiatives.

The 2007 Entrepreneur Of The Year country winners will gather in Monte Carlo on 29 May-1 June for the World Entrepreneur Of The Year Award. Each country winner will be inducted into the World Entrepreneur Of The Year Academy and vie for the title of World Entrepreneur Of The Year.
