Country attractiveness indices 2008 - Q1 & Q2 2008

China displaces the UK in the top five countries in the Ernst & Young renewable energy country attractiveness indices for Q1 and Q2 2008 (pdf, 1.3mb). This is in spite of the UKs renewable energy strategy proposals which are yet to be translated into tangible benefit to the industry. The lead article discusses the impacts of the credit crunch and rising oil prices and their impact on investment in renewable energy.

Country Attractiveness Indices

The Country Attractiveness Indices publications provide scores and rankings for renewable energy, and biofuels, markets. The latest editions include a focus on the rush to respond to climate change, insights into the cleantech financing gap and a look at the US Energy Independence and Security Act and EU Roadmap.

Q4 webcast

The Q4 2007 Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Indices Thought Center webcast took place on 18 March 2008. The panelists discussed the effect of the growing differences in legislation on the US and EU renewable energy sectors, key movements to the Indices and the likely impact of the US Energy Independence and Security Act on the biofuels sector. The Q3 2007 Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Indices Thought Center webcast took place on 13 December 2007 and is now archived and available for viewing. The panelists discussed the effect of the recent credit crunch on the Renewables sector, financial institutions' views on lending to the sector and the need for an international perspective on Biofuels.

5th Euromoney and Ernst & Young Global Renewable Energy Awards 2008

The Awards were established to recognise the projects, companies and individuals who have made a significant contribution to the global renewable energy sector. This will be the fifth anniversary of the Awards and the ceremony will take place on the evening of Monday 15 September 2008 at Madame Tussauds, one of London’s favourite tourist attractions, with a full visit to the galleries included.
