What is a podcast?

A podcast is an audio file that can be downloaded to your computer, so you can listen to it anytime: on your computer when you're not connected to the Internet, or on your portable music player as you work out, travel or commute to the office.

How do I get a podcast?

You need to have a simple software program called a "podcatcher." There are a variety of podcatchers available online for free. A podcatcher organizes audio files in a library for easy access. If you subscribe to a podcast, you will receive regular programming automatically.

What's the difference between a podcast and a regular audio file?

The difference is subtle; you can't subscribe to a regular audio file. With podcasting, you can subscribe to a series of audio episodes that download automatically whenever something new is issued.
