Award Winners of Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The YearŽ Award Announced in the Southwest Area

Dallas, Texas, June 19 — Ernst & Young LLP today announced the winners of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The YearŽ 2006 award in the Southwest Area. This year’s award winners were recognized at a special 20th anniversary gala event at the Hilton Anatole with more than 380 people in attendance. All of the award winners were selected by an independent panel of judges composed of area leaders from business, academic and civic organizations. The Southwest Area Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2006 award winners are:

  • Services – Scott Walker, President & CEO, BillMatrix Corporation
    Under Scott Walker’s leadership, BillMatrix has experienced a sixty five percent annualized growth rate for the last seven years. The company’s success was validated with an acquisition in 2005 by Fiserv, Inc., a world class provider of information management systems and services to the financial industry and a member of the Fortune 500.

  • Energy – Kelcy Warren, Co-Chairman & Co-CEO, Energy Transfer Partners
    Kelcy Warren has been a successful leader in the energy business for over 25 years. With approximately 12,000 miles of natural gas pipeline, Energy Transfer is the largest intrastate pipeline in the state of Texas. The company provides midstream services to producers throughout the state, including transportation, processing and storage of natural gas.

  • Health Sciences – April Anthony, CEO, Encompass Home Health
    April Anthony’s commitment over the years has facilitated the delivery of essential healthcare services to more than eighty thousand home bound patients. Anthony’s unique approach to home care service delivery resulted in the development of a robust technology application that allows for the collection and monitoring of all patient care information through a web-enabled software application. Encompass Home Health, one of the nations leading providers of home health care services, has thirty locations across Texas and Oklahoma.

  • Communications & Technology – David Moxam, President & CEO, Authentix
    In 2002, Moxam took the reins of a failing startup that used nanotechnology to authenticate fuels. He rebranded the company, aggressively acquired nanotechnology IP to broaden their anti-counterfeiting solutions offerings, and expanded the company's client base to include Fortune 500 companies and government and security applications.

  • Manufacturing – Rhys Best, Chairman & CEO, Lone Star Technologies
    Rhys Best is highly regarded in the energy industry for his role in leading Lone Star Technologies through a period of significant growth. Lone Star has a well-deserved reputation for providing its customers with high-quality products and services, with and unparalleled focus on service and support, superior supply chain solutions, technological leadership and operational excellence helped generate record revenues in 2004 and 2005.

  • Real Estate/Hospitality/Construction – Luis Spinola, President & CEO, Azteca Enterprises Group
    Luis Spinola is the Founder, President and CEO of The Azteca Group, one of the largest minority construction companies in the industry. From its early beginnings as a rebar tier, The Azteca Group has developed into a multi-faceted construction company, employing hundreds and providing a variety of construction services to its clientele throughout the United States. Spinola is also a Past Chairman of the Hispanic Contractors Association of Dallas/Ft. Worth.

  • Retail & Consumer Products – James Arthur Flynn, CEO, Wingstop Restaurants, Inc.
    In 3 ˝ years, Jim Flynn has taken Wingstop from ninety units to more than five hundred either open, under construction or with a contract signed. Wingstop was ranked Number 13 in Restaurant Business Magazine’s 2005 Top 50 Growth Chains listing and was ranked the Number one chicken wing chain by Entrepreneur Magazine in 2004 and 2005.

  • Emerging – Brad Meyer, Chairman, President & CEO, Trinity Real Estate Solutions, Inc.
    Brad Meyer started Trinity Real Estate Solutions in 2003 to provide a broad spectrum of residential new construction services nationwide in support of the construction lending industry. Trinity’s business has increased tenfold, is debt free and is enjoying a high growth rate. Meyer’s business model is built on customer service, quality and delivery - with a servant leadership style - all built on a Christian foundation.

Southwest Area award winners are eligible for consideration for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2006 national program. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year award winner, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, California on November 18, 2006. The overall national Entrepreneur Of The Year award recipient is then considered for the world event held in Monte Carlo.

The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year awards program celebrates its 20th anniversary this year and continues to recognize the leaders and visionaries who are creating and building world-class businesses. Awards are given to entrepreneurs who have demonstrated excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.
