EY’s latest EMEIA Fraud Survey comes at a time when significant and sometimes unexpected political change is spreading economic uncertainty, presenting businesses with new challenges and opportunities in an increasingly disrupted world.

Based on 4,100 interviews conducted in 41 countries across Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa, our survey reveals key attitudes towards the fraud, bribery and corruption companies face.

The Irish perspective

Key findings

  • 47% of Irish respondents believe bribery and corrupt practices are widespread in Ireland
  • 17% of Irish employees would be prepared to make cash payments to help a business survive
  • 22% of respondents would act unethically to further career progression or gain a remuneration package
  • 16% would recognise revenue earlier to meet a target
  • 61% of respondents stated that monitoring their social media profiles would be a violation of their privacy
  • 42% ranked concern around future career progression as the number one reason for not reporting fraudulent practices.
