Association of British and Irish Accountants in Luxembourg (ABIAL) has created an extensive program which includes Anouk Agnès from ALFI, who will speak on the state of the Luxembourg investment fund industry, an updates on Legal and Regulatory aspects, the evolution of the fund distribution as well as a panel discussion on the practical implications and impacts Brexit has on the fund industry.

Michael Ferguson, EY Luxembourg, will be the moderator of the panel discussion “Brexit – practical implications and impact on fund industry”.

It is the third consecutive year that we are hosting a depositary roundtable to discuss market trends, best practices and common issues faced by depositaries operating in Luxembourg. Last year we focused on the details of safekeeping, cash flow monitoring and oversight duties. This year we will look at specific operational issues and common challenges faced by the market participants and continue our discussion on the latest industry developments.

All seminars will feature a keynote address by H.E. Pierre Gramegna, Minister of Finance of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. In Singapore, the program will highlight these following topics : European regulatory agenda; what it means for Asia Asset Managers with Luxembourg funds; Luxembourg UCITS and the emerging Asia passport; what is the best solution of Asian Asset Managers?; Alternative Investment Funds; using Luxembourg to facilitate global PERE investing; Investor protection; a multi-layered approach; Fintech: a transformational agenda shaped by Luxembourg. Laurent Capolaghi, Partner, EY Luxembourg, will be one of the panelists to talk about “AIFs: using Luxembourg to facilitate global PERE investing”.

Luxembourg has been granted an AFS (Australian financial services) license relief by ASIC for financial service providers regulated by the CSSF to provide financial services in Australia to wholesale investors. This relief enables Australian institutional investors easier access to Luxembourg UCITS. In Sydney and Australia, these seminars will be the perfect occasions to leverage on these new opportunities and to build new ties between Luxembourg and Australian financial players. The key topics will include: Current trends and developments in Europe: get an update on what’s hot in Europe! Brexit, Fintech, Climate Finance; Luxembourg UCITS: learn about the key features of UCITS and what they have to offer to Australian investors; AFS licence relief: understand how to leverage on the new AFS relief granted by ASIC to Luxembourg financial service providers; Real Estate and Infrastructure investments structuring: a panel of experts will present solutions for structuring international Real Estate and Infrastructure investments. The Risk Club - European Commission proposal on CRR II and CRD V

On 23 November 2016, European Commission (EC) launched a proposal to amend Capital Requirement Regulation (CRR) and Capital Requirement Directive (CRD IV), as well as the EU Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive (BRRD) and the Signe Resolution Mechanism Regulation (SRMR). During this Risk Club session, EY will present the main revisions proposed by EC, focusing on the key elements impacting Luxembourg's Banking Sector. Key points on the proposal are inter alia:

  • a binding Leverage Ratio (LR) with revised calculation rules;
  • a binding Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR) with updated specifications;
  • Changes on Large Exposures regime;
  • Updates related to the Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB), including changes in the credit and counterparty risk exposure calculation for derivatives;
  • Pillar II revisions on Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book;
  • Total Loss-Absorbing Capacity (TLAC) and MREL requirements.

Luxembourg, a European gateway for China: update on Private Equity and M&A

The Luxembourg, a European gateway for China: update on Private Equity and M&A conference will, for the first time, explore Luxembourg’s role in inbound and outbound investments between China and Europe.
Co-organised by the associations ChinaLux and LPEA, the event will bring together speakers from China and Luxembourg who will share their insights on the growing importance of Luxembourg as a bridge between China and Europe and notably in the Private Equity and M&A sectors. Alain Kinsch, Country Managing Partner at EY Luxembourg, will be one of the speaker to talk about “Luxembourg: bridge between Europe and China”.

This Summit is EY Luxembourg’s key event for the private equity and venture capital industry in Luxembourg. For this 6th edition, we will run a series of interviews, panel discussions and a presentation on hot topics shaping the industry. In this summit, the focus is not on regulatory or operational issues but on the business itself and those topics that catch the attention of General Partners, Limited Partners, funds and service providers. The event will be organized as a half-day workshop.
