Why EY?

Are you smart, ambitious and excited about the future? We are too.

You’ve got some big decisions to make about your future career, and we’re here to help you make the right choices. We have a whole range of opportunities open to you at EY. Whether you join our Assurance or Tax teams, from university or school, you will enjoy early responsibility, rewarding challenges and exposure to a variety of businesses across the Financial Services sector.

Careers in Assurance and Tax

Businesses and individuals today are subject to ever-growing, increasingly complex tax and regulatory change. This makes for a simulating working environment, where you will work with a wide variety of clients at a high level. As a tax professional at EY, you’ll use your research and analytical skills, stay on top of the law, and acquire an in-depth knowledge of clients’ needs. We will ensure you gain experience across the services we provide as soon as you start your career with us.

A career in Assurance is extremely broad, giving you the opportunity to develop a general grounding in business, and opening the door to many career paths. External Audit at EY plays a huge role in preserving the integrity of the global business landscape. You can give our clients peace of mind by using your analytical skills to give companies, investors and regulators confidence in the validity of financial statements, business-critical information or processes.

If you would like to apply for an Associate position at EY in the Channel Islands (Guernsey or Jersey), please contact our HR Coordinator, Anoushka Horgan, +44 (0)1534 288667, with your CV and a covering letter.

What are we looking for?

We're much more interested in the kind of person you are and the things you're naturally good at than what A level subjects you took at school or which degree you studied at university. So we want you to be yourself and show us what you've got. As you'd expect, we also ask you to have some minimum qualifications, so be sure to check the requirements when you apply.

The qualifications you'll need will depend on the programme you apply for, but here's what we usually look for:

A level entrant

  • Grade B or above for GCSE Mathematics and English Language
  • 300 UCAS points or equivalent (excluding General Studies and re-sits).

Graduate entrant

  • Grade B or above for GCSE Mathematics and English Language
  • 300 UCAS points or equivalent (excluding General Studies and re-sits)
  • 2.1 degree in any discipline.

Assessing strengths, not just qualifications

Understanding and using your strengths will help us understand you as a person, and enable you to perform at your best and have a fulfilling professional life.

Different backgrounds and skills – but similar values

We look for a number of criteria in our employees. If these describe you, you can relax in the knowledge that you'll feel comfortable in our working environment.

People who excel

We aren't just looking for high academic achievers. We also want you to demonstrate leadership through extra-curricular activities and community involvement.

People who are good at working in teams

We look for evidence that you are good at listening, learning, sharing, developing and working with others, including those who are different from you.

People with integrity

We want you to have a clear sense of personal and professional accountability and show you are committed to doing the right thing.

People who demonstrate respect

We look for people who recognise the value of different backgrounds and points of view. By respecting these differences we enrich our perspectives, which helps us build strong relationships and enhance the services we provide to our clients.

People with energy, enthusiasm and the courage to lead

We want you to be passionate and excited about the opportunities at EY and what your future holds.
