Andy Archer


Andy is a senior tax partner at EY, who brings considerable experience as a tax advisor amassed over 25 years. Andy has strong international experience from six years working out of the UK and Australia. Andy’s mantra is making a difference, driving value outcomes. His particular strengths are in strategic tax management within acceptable risk parameters, delivering commercial insights and high value. Andy has held leadership positions within EY.

Previous experience

Andy’s areas of taxation expertise include: Cross border international tax and tax treaties; Corporate debt/equity capital mix; Banking and related financial service capital markets; Strategic tax management, and corporate governance; Corporate M&A, and value optimisation.


Andy has degrees in Law (Honours) and Accounting; he is an active member of the NZ branch of IFA (International Fiscal Association) and NZICA, and past executive of the Australia-New Zealand Business Council. Andy assists in the not-for-profit sector, and has served nationally with Diabetes New Zealand Inc., including leading its re-organisation.


Andy is a passionate rugby man, and also enjoys golf, fishing, skiing, travel, and entertaining.


Andy is a regular presenter to tax, and other forums. He has written many papers and articles, the latest can be found the in New Zealand edition of the EY Tax Watch.
