Data and Privacy

Our experienced team of data lawyers works closely across EY's service lines, to help clients navigate the changing world of data protection and understand its effects on their business.

By working closely with experienced professionals, both nationally and internationally, we provide holistic, operational solutions both within the UK and across international borders.

Data protection has entered a period of unprecedented change

A large number of high profile data breaches, and the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) coming into force in May 2018, mean most companies will face new mandatory requirements. These include: performing privacy impact assessments and regular data compliance audits; notifying personal data breaches; and maintaining records of personal data activities.

How can we help you get ready?

We work with organisations to enhance their understanding of their compliance position and maturity level, and conduct targeted assessments to gauge readiness for the GDPR’s new requirements. Building a data protection programme can be challenging and complicated. We help companies navigate the best approach to remediation and how to implement ongoing best standards of practice.

Our publication, EU General Data Protection Regulation: Are you ready? (6.3Mb), provides an overview of the key changes proposed by the GDPR and an assessment of how we help our clients prepare.
